He's a bit of a flat track bully who's flattered by his penalty count.

Last night's one resulting from a massive dive by Sterling, who has reverted to being shit, but with added greedy.

Re: World Cup Qualifiers
He's 27 I think so he still has time left. He is an outstanding CF for me, has the lot, but to be a great yes he needs to step up this summer.

Re: World Cup Qualifiers
My worry is Southgate will keep playing him even if he is out of form and will restrict any game time to Calvin Lewin who i think is a very good player.

No, we haven't got anyone better. He is our best striker by a country mile.

But, I won't be holding my breath either. As I said, internationally his time has come and gone.

Re: World Cup Qualifiers
I rate Kane highly and wouldn't want anyone else leading the line, but t's true he didn't step up at the world cup, and won't be holding my breath he does this summer either.

Yep. And what is annoying is that he keeps coming deep. He may be doing this as he is captain and has reached that point where he has had injuries and lost his pace and appears to now think he is a playmaker.

We have enough people in there to get things going so if I was Southgate I would be telling his to get the fuck up the pitch and do what he should be doing. If he isn't now fit enough or good enough to play as our direct 9 then drop him.

I agree. Lots of potential and talent but, for me, a team lacking real experience and know-how in the major tournaments. That's just the way it goes sometimes. Timing is important. And I think this Euro's is too soon for the current crop.

Kane has missed the boat. He had his chance in 2018 to win something with England. Problem is we don't have anyone coming through to push him out. Calvert Lewin isn't good enough at international level for me.

In this Euro's we will huff and puff and almost certainly do well enough to get everyone excited but when we come up against a top side we are gone.

Re: World Cup Qualifiers
I can't see us doing great in the Euro's somehow. Think we will come up short again. We rarely, if ever, step up when it matters, and despite all our attacking talent we are shaky at the back and that includes keepers too.

Re: World Cup Qualifiers
Kane in an England shirt recently he is a massive passenger and rarely seems to do much of note.

Agree with that. To me, a quality international striker would do the business, once a team gets, to the knockout stages of the World Cup or Euros. For all their faults, England generally does this. What's Kane managed in the knockout stages? One penalty?

Almost as bad as Rooney. Zero goals in the knockout stages.

Re: World Cup Qualifiers
It could be my hatred for anything Spurs but every time I watch Kane in an England shirt recently he is a massive passenger and rarely seems to do much of note.

He scores 2 in 2 (one a penalty) and I can't remember him doing much else. I think he is a great finisher but for me other than the odd dive he doesn't move enough or threaten. I was begging for Calvert-Lewin to come on just to remind myself we had a striker on the pitch.

I've thought this when watching in the last World Cup when we came up against better teams. Is he undroppable? He certainly isn't a leader.

Re: World Cup Qualifiers
Ancient Macedonia was regarded as not quite proper Greek by the rest of the Greeks, until Alexander conquered half the known world (and some bits that weren't known before he started).

But everyone loves a winner. Even if he's Macedonian and they're Greeks.

Nowadays, some Greeks are absurdly touchy about non-Greeks claiming to be Macedonian.

Re: World Cup Qualifiers
I stand corrected, must admit I didn't know there was north and south Macedonia!

England have some decent players going forward and young Foden is going to be a player but they need to be let off the leash at times.

Good also that Soucek & Coufal played last night & were only coming home from Wales
Nothing personal but wouldn't be the worst thing if Czech didnt qualify & they stayed in London for a break in Nov/Dec 2022

NORTH Macedonia , Zico
Think South Macedonia is part of Greece

Presume Southgate will bring back Rashford & Pickford
And Henderson if he is fit

I prefer Southgate to foreign scum.we just need to recapture that more expressive quality of footy. We’ve gone too defensive.

Re: World Cup Qualifiers
Mount and Phillips were two wasted places. Neither did anything.
Southgate is clearly a boring, unimaginative manager who doesn't trust his players to be creative and is very happy to play 'safe'. But he's also very, very lucky.
It's a piss poor performance when you hardly have a shot on goal in open play against Poland.
I'd dearly like to see the back of Gareth "BrexIt has racial overtones" Southgate but unfortunately it looks as though he ticks all the FA boxes.

Could be worse. Germany have lost their first World Cup qualifier since the 5-1 in 2001 to England, by getting beat at home 1-2 to South Macedonia!
